Why do carpools traveling on I-394 get a bigger discount than those coming from other areas?
The carpool parking discount in the 4th, 5th, and 7th Street garages is based on a grant from the federal government. One of the conditions of the grant is that only carpools coming into downtown Minneapolis on I-394 (and I-94) and living in the western section of the metro area are eligible to receive the discount. The impact of deeply discounted parking as an incentive to carpool is being studied.
Will my child count as a passenger?
